Magic

  • DISCLAIMER: (Everything is subject to change and be edited currently. Still testing the waters with his magic to ensure balancing is fair and fun for myself but also for others.)
    The magical rundown~
    Severous's entire ability kit is based on constructing an advantage for himself or the people he oversees through means of magical or otherwise analytical strengths. Even with his outcasting looming in the background, the Aasimar still finds himself tapping into the celestial essence in his veins to twist and utilize selfishly in other schools of magic and tricks. A particular affinity is related to nature magic and its representation of life, while his mental grit connects to an association in psionic defenses and observation. Both schools of magic can interlock or be separate of their own volition; it entirely depends on the spells being utilized. Severous does have access to some celestial magic though it's severely limited the further he falls from his past life. It's very unlikely to see him utilize it as is unless in grave danger or otherwise threatened heavily. All magic is subject to resistance if contending against another character and can be discussed OOC if crucial.

    Passive Aura's/Resistances
    Barred Mind
    The worst fear of any army or group can have is their strategist falling under the enemies' control or glimpsing what they see. It is why through decades of practicum, the outcasted celestial has ensured the construction of a near-impenetrable mental wall. Not only does it prevent the acts of scrying and mindreading, but if the intruder is endeavoring to try longer than a few seconds, a mental alarm will ring out in Severous's mind informing him of the action transpiring. It is possible to break through this aura IF the character is very masterful in psionics. This ability also blocks positive effects, such as mental comms with allies being an example.
    Vigilant gaze
    As straightforward as it sounds, Severous has a supernatural perception around him that prevents those of mundane means from sneaking up on him. Magical users utilizing invisibility or vision-obscuring sorcery can sneak up on him at a much higher possibility rate. However, he will still have an edge over any noise or physical indicators that might tip him off.

    Activated magic
  • Intrusive vision
    Through the touch of skin to skin, Severous is capable of leaving a residual psionic parasite with the victim if desired. While not outwardly intrusive or even noticeable to anyone outside of highly skilled magic users, it allows Severous to have a direct conduit to the person's perceptive mental connections. Or, more specifically, to their sight. The degree of touch and how substantial magic-wise a character is will determine how long Severous can sustain vision through the person's eyes and how long the mental parasite will remain within them. When the ability is activated, and Severous is utilizing the sight-seeing, it's more like him being a spectator, not controlling the character's actions or even what they see. The power must be activated to be used. If Severous is not concentrating on the parasitic link, then he will not be capable of witnessing the surroundings of that specific person.

    Blooming potential
    Severous glimpses sealed potential just as he witnesses a flower struggling to bloom from pesky weeds. If he chooses, the Aasimar can assist magically in yanking the figurative weeds from stifling an individual's prospective growth over time. May it be struggling to comprehend how to write, or mishandling a sword consistently, to something heavier such as locked away magic. These fortes can be cultivated and unlocked for the figure if they put forward the cognitive willingness for change. The magic tends to be a buffer of sorts, supplementing the strength, finesse, or intelligence until the target eventually finds their capacity fitting. Severous can only activate this ability in limited amounts of time, a couple of hours a day at most before having to turn it back off. The draining mechanic of tugging from his lifeforce and attributes can prove detrimental to Severous if the spell is pushed to its limits.

  • The Withering

    Just as Severous can cultivate his prized flowers, he can just as quickly rot the ground beneath them. Pulling up on the growing corruption within, the Aasimar inflicts the surrounding area he touches with a vile concoction of pestilence. Anything plant-based or of weaker origins will immediately begin to have its life force pulled upon in a thirty-foot circumference, quickly slipping into a state of decay as they feed whatever energy available to Severous. Those not of a frailer variety can generally get out of the circle easier if the latching plant life can be avoided from grappling them down. However, if latched upon by the dying vegetation to stay in the loop, the risks increase twofold. The gradual drain of energy happens much quicker as the plant acts as a siphon to pull from, feeding eagerly and greedily to stay alive. This spell stays active for as long as it has something to draw from; Severous included. After it concludes, it is often the Aasimar himself falls into a collapsed pile. Body torn, unraveled, and bloodied amongst the destruction he caused—a price to pay to destroy the world's beauty.
